Enough radiation to cause a ” global life extinction event” sits precariously in a cracked pool. What can you do?

MAIN STORY< READ FIRST (takes 10 minutes). More high resolution photos courtesy of Air Photo Service Co Ltd. Japan here. This shows reactor 4, the roof  blown off not because of the tsunami, but because of an inherent flaw in the design of these GE mark 1 reactors (see post on this). Hydrogen gas collects and with no safety escape, it causes a massive explosion, resulting in the situation above; a fuel pool with no containment, but directly open to the environment, 100 feet in the air, the crane fallen into the pool, the building about to collapse, walls buckling, support columns sheared, unapproachable, unresolved,  & unreal. The US has 23 of these, and some are MUCH larger than Fukushima no. 4.

Be persuasive, be brave, be arrested. Article from Nature spells it out pretty clearly.

And know it is still way worse than this aurhor even reports, because most climate scientists still are not aware that the uv light is so strong in the arctic, that the  northern boreal forest was severely burned, and when it completly dies and decomposes, several years from now, the carbon in the atmosophere will about double, to 800 ppm! So if you were beginning to think 400 ppm is bad, just wait… 800 is just a few years away. The military has circulated, within the ranks, that a severe “food price shock” is coming. They know. We dont.  We are and will be kept in the dark. Look up the 43 tril lawsuit on Oct 27th. CNBC published it online, only to have it removed, and the executive director of CNBC , his two small children had their throuats slashed. The govt knows what is coming. May God help us all.

STUDY: Kardashians Get 40 Times More News Coverage Than Ocean Acidification

Via Media MattersAccording to the National Research Council, the chemical changes are taking place “at an unprecedented rate and magnitude” and are “practically irreversible on a time scale of centuries.”  (Remember folks, the ocean plankton -now down by 40% in 40 years-is responsible for every other breath you take).

“Despite a boom of recent scientific research documenting this threat, there has been a blackout on the topic at most media outlets. Since the end of 2010, ABC, NBC, and Fox News have completely ignored ocean acidification, and the Los Angeles TimesUSA TODAYWall Street Journal, MSNBC, CNN, and CBS have barely mentioned it at all.”

Lesson: Get your primary news not from the above listed censored sources, but from sources online: Media Matters (check their climate section for an eye opener),  Earth Times, Climate Progress, Ene News, Reddit-Environment, George Monbiot, and a plethora of others. The real news is out there, you just have to look for it. Spread the word to at least one person a day, and ask them to consider doing that.

Fukushima- the nuclear emergency that won’t go away. Fish with 25,000bq/kg caught, reactor leaking…still

Via Earth Times:   While the risks for further meltdown are being contained by the ongoing water cooling efforts, the potential for reigniting disaster is still very real. The nuclear reactors are structurally compromised – essentially open to the air – with reactor rods stored in ponds several meters above ground. Another earthquake in the area could break the ponds open, exposing hundreds of tons of nuclear fuel to the air.

That would provoke a runaway nuclear meltdown, releasing radioactivity on an unprecedented scale. And that risk of another quake has been rated as a definite possibility. No wonder Kenzo Oshima, a commissioner for Japan’s Nuclear Regulatory Authority, said this week that “the situation remains precarious.” Of course, Tepco are working to a plan that should see all the stored fuel rods and radioactive material removed in the next three years.

Bad news: Fukushima building four, housing at least 10 Chernobyls worth of Cesium, is continuing to sink, unevenly. Building is tilting and has sunk 36 inches in the tsunami and an additional 30 since. No fuel rods have been removed in year and a half. Potential Armageddon-like scenario if it falls.

“The speed by which the oceans’ acid levels has risen caught scientists off-guard…”The oceans will become hot, sour and breathless.”

Via Climate of Change: “It took 250 years to burn the first 500 billion tonnes. On current trends we’ll burn the next 500 billion in less than 40 years.”

We also know that ”About 30-40% of the carbon dioxide released by humans into the atmosphere dissolves into the oceans, rivers and lakes.”

Just as we have increased atmospheric levels of CO2 by 40 percent, we have increased the acidity of our oceans by 30 percent as it absorbs our greenhouse gas emissions

Make no mistake. Yesterday, today and tomorrow and all our tomorrows for the foreseeable future will find us adding another 90 million tons of CO2 each and every day. I am doing my part and you are doing yours. We are all responsible for this. And our children will pay as they grow old in a world of dying seas. God help us.

“A summer ice-free Arctic could double the rate of warming of the planet as a whole…We are in a planetary emergency…If even 10% of the northern permafrost’s buried carbon were released as methane, it would have a heating effect over the next decade equivalent to ten times all human greenhouse emissions to date

Via Truth Out: ( a site you should read / check daily )  ”Peter Wadhams, professor of ocean physics at Cambridge University, warns that the Arctic may be ice-free in summer as soon as 2015. Such a massive loss would have a warming effect roughly equivalent to all human activity to date. In other words, a summer ice-free Arctic could double the rate of warming of the planet as a whole. No wonder that leading NASA climate scientist James Hansen says bluntly: “We are in a planetary emergency.”

Hundreds of problems have been found at European nuclear plants that would cost $40 billion to fix, says a leaked draft report.

Via BBC : The report, commissioned after Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster, aimed to see how Europe’s nuclear power stations would cope during extreme emergencies. The final report is to be published on Thursday. The draft says nearly all the EU’s 143 nuclear plants need improving.  Anti-nuclear groups say the report’s warnings do not go far enough.

Ozone hole over arctic reported as 40% loss in March, 2011, then 80% in October six months later. Summer and fall of 2012 millions of trees across Alaska burned. Fall colors of birch brown not yellow. Yellow apples burned red. Massive burned trees everywhere. If the Northern Boreal Forest die, we die. 700 Pg carbon will decay. Are radioactive gases from Fukushima to blame?

BBC news reports that scientists were  seeing unprecedented levels of ozone losses over the arctic ( read ). Then six months later BBC reports that the hole is 80% ( read )

All additional radioactive gases released into the lower Atmo- & Tropo-Spheres will function as Catalysts for all reactions which otherwise would not be occurring. This is the principle of electron-transfer-catalysis and the radioactive gases voided in masses by the refueling stations over the northern hemisphere have been  documented as significant by Weiss & Bullacher, C.Keller, Vohra.

Yoiichi Shimatsu reports that the many many tons of iodine ( a highly reactive ozone-attacking agent)and xenon which soon transformed into xenon floride (produced when xenon comes under uv catalysis to combine with fluorine gas in the atmoshpere). Fluorine is abundand over the US Pacific Northwest and Canada. The jet stream carried the iodine and newly formed XeFl compounds in a northeasterly direction, crossing into the arctic circle and looping back down over Greenlans, Scandinavia and European Russia. This exactly accounts for the oblong shape and direction of the expanded ozone hole..
